Featured Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs
Safety Matters ProjectsSafety Matters projects are high impact, low cost improvements to neighborhood streets such as new pavement markings, signs, signals, curb changes, or lighting to improve bicycle, pedestrian, and driver safety. 
Safe Routes to SchoolThe DC Safe Routes to School Program works to improve safety who walk and bicycle to school. 
Capital BikeshareDDOT’s bikesharing program has stations throughout the city with about 1000 bikes. The program, in partnership with Arlington County is called Capital Bikeshare. 
BikeBrand Your BizgoDCgo, DDOT’s sustainable transportation program, offers free consultations and other services to organizations and businesses throughout the District to promote the use of alternatives to driving alone. 
Bicycle LawsThe DC Council has enacted several laws regarding bicycling. There are also specific bicycle regulations in the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR), and 2006 (revisions). 
Bicycle ParkingDDOT has a very progressive Bicycle Program with some of the most innovative initiatives in the nation, including the first self-service bike parking program and the Bikestation at Union Station. |
