DC Government Hosts AI Public Listening Session for the Business Community

Monday, May 18, 2026
Presented as Part of Technology and Innovation Month: A Public Forum on Workforce Development, Data Privacy & the Future of AI in the District

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Tuesday May 19 at 6:00 p.m. the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) will host a public listening session of the Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence Values Alignment (AIVA) for the business community to coincide with Technology and Innovation Month.

Technology and Innovation Month is a new annual designation established by the Bowser Administration to elevate DC's leadership in technology and innovation. Mayor Muriel Bowser launched the inaugural recognition this month by signing a proclamation celebrating the innovation, entrepreneurship, and government technology shaping the future of the District.

Featuring expert panel discussions on data privacy, ethics, and workforce upskilling, this listening session is an opportunity for the District's business community to share their perspectives, ask questions, and help shape how DC Government develops and applies artificial intelligence in service of all who live, work, and visit the District.

This public listening session is held in accordance with Mayor's Order 2024-028, which established AIVA to engage with internal and external stakeholders on the intersection of the District's AI Values and emerging technologies — ensuring all voices are heard and advising the Mayor on the ongoing refinement of DC's approach to AI governance. As part of that mission, AIVA holds public listening sessions to gather community input on how District government uses AI tools.
